Following a recent incident with Hurley and an official, UConn women’s basketball head coach Auriemma discussed his frustrations while coaching and shared his viewpoint on the matter.
In a segment of the program’s video series called “Legendary Basketball,” Auriemma and Hurley discussed their coaching experiences with the Huskies. Auriemma mentioned that when he becomes “angrier,” it results in a “negative effect” on his team.
“Our behavior significantly influences our players.” “They’re highly impressionable because they perceive you differently now than they might have five years prior,” Auriemma told Hurley. “Therefore, if you’re harming a child and you’re saying they smell bad, often they don’t want to confront you.” They feel like crawling into a hole since a guy they truly admire and respect just told them they are terrible.
