KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 28 — According to Dr. Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip, the director-general of the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), April is expected to be the hottest month of the year, especially in northern states like Kelantan, inland Pahang, and Sarawak.A shift to warmer and drier conditions is anticipated starting early February, with a potential heatwave coinciding with the conclusion of the Northeast Monsoon.
However, Dr. Hisham noted that the intensity of the heat this year will likely be milder than in 2024 due to the ongoing La Niña phenomenon, which is expected to persist until spring in the northern hemisphere.Typically, northern regions such as Perlis, Kedah, and northern Perak are most susceptible to hotter and drier weather, as per MetMalaysia’s findings.
He urged the public to stay updated by checking MetMalaysia’s website, using the myCuaca app, following official social media channels, or calling their hotline at 1-800-22-1638 for the latest information
