Buckeyes on the Hunt: Ohio State Sets Sights on Five-Star Defender From Big Ten Rival.

The Ohio State Buckeyes consistently aim to make significant moves in recruiting. Ryan Day has performed remarkably in recent years, restoring the program to arguably the top recruiting team in the country.

It appears that Ohio State is attempting to recruit a top-tier talent from a rival Big Ten team.

Zion Elee is a top-tier EDGE prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. He is considered one of the top players in the whole recruiting class.

Currently, Elee is dedicated to the Maryland Terrapins. That might not ultimately be the location where he truly signs.

As per a report from On3 Sports college football insider Hayes Fawcett, Elee is set to embark on six official visits. The Buckeyes are included among those visits.

Admittedly, this doesn’t imply that Ohio State has strong chances to change his commitment. Nonetheless, finishing a season as national champions would certainly improve their chances of achieving that.

Currently, On3 Sports has Elee positioned as the No. 3 recruit in the overall 2026 class. He is additionally listed as the top EDGE.

Measuring 6-foot-3 and weighing 220 pounds, he possesses great size and exceptional athletic ability. He needs to gain some more muscle, but his prospects have never seemed brighter.

Examining the 2026 class, the Buckeyes might benefit from increased pass rushing. Securing Elee and managing to turn him would be a significant achievement for Ohio State and would greatly enhance their defense.

With that in mind, Elee is visiting four other quality programs officially. He is also dedicated to Maryland, which is the school from his hometown. Turning him over won’t be a simple endeavor.

Ideally, Day can perform some magic and complete the task. At this moment, this is merely something to monitor closely as the Buckeyes could potentially make it a reality.
