Mike Martin has served as the scouting advancement director for the Detroit Lions for the last four years. As per a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN, Martin is stepping down from that position to take on the role of general manager for the Notre Dame football program.

Martin played a crucial role in building the 2023 roster that guided the Lions to a 12-5 record, equaling the franchise’s single-season win record. The 2023 season marked the third occasion in the team’s history where multiple playoff games were won, and it was the first instance of this happening in a season for the franchise since 1957. The 2023 roster assembly was crucial in enabling Detroit to secure their first Division Championship since 1993 and reach their first NFC Championship since 1991. Prior to his arrival in Detroit, Martin worked as the southwest area scout for the Carolina Panthers from 2018 to 2020.
