Paige Bueckers believed she was out of the limelight on Sunday, but she was mistaken, as a viral video has revealed.
Bueckers contributed 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 10 assists, leading her UConn Huskies to a victory over South Carolina 87-58 on the road Sunday, thus snapping the Gamecocks’ 71-game home winning streak. The victory was significant for UConn, so naturally ESPN requested a Huskies player to participate in a postgame interview. Bueckers simply didn’t wish for it to be her.
An excellent video captures UConn’s players tidying up the court following the game. Bueckers was dashing away until ESPN’s Holly Rowe summoned her for an interview.
Bueckers instantly threw her head back in irritation and placed her hands over her head before facing Rowe. Rowe was observed apologizing to Bueckers, who complied.
The only thing that could have improved that video was Bueckers saying “mommmm” in a whiny tone.
Bueckers was clearly prepared to go to the locker room. She may have believed that her teammate Azzi Fudd, who scored 28 points, warranted more interview attention.
