In the midst of significant changes to the national championship staff over the summer, the Ohio State Buckeyes are adding a former Penn State player to their coaching team.
According to college football expert Matt Zenitz, Wendy Laurent, who has been an Ivy League coach since his playing days as an offensive lineman for the Nittany Lions came to an end, is headed to Columbus as an analyst.
“Ohio State is also expected to hire Wendy Laurent as an analyst, sources tell [CBS Sports] and [247 Sports],” Zenitz wrote on Wednesday, February 19, in an X post. “The tight ends coach and assistant head coach at Dartmouth has been the former offensive lineman from Penn State, who blocked for players like Saquon Barkley. served as a graduate assistant at Penn State in 2020 and 2021.
On Wednesday, the Buckeyes also announced the hiring of two former offensive line coaches as analysts.
In addition to Charlie Dickey, who has worked with Kansas, Oklahoma State, and Utah, Ohio State hired Marcus Johnson, who formerly attended Mississippi State, Missouri, and Purdue.
This summer, the Las Vegas Raiders recruited former OSU offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, while Penn State hired former OSU defensive coordinator Jim Knowles from the Buckeyes. In 2025, Knowles and Kelly departed for places where they could earn much more money.
