Russell Wilson is set to join the New York Giants, agreeing to a one-year deal to play in MetLife Stadium. After spending one season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Wilson is making the move to New York. He has previously played for the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks. Upon the announcement, Wilson took to social media to share his excitement: “Been here before,” he said. “Can’t wait to do it again.” Prior to joining the Giants, Wilson was also rumored to be considering the Cleveland Browns or a return to Pittsburgh. He will now join a quarterback room with Jameis Winston and Tommy DeVito, both of whom have starting experience in recent years.
Last season, Wilson threw for 16 touchdowns and 2,482 yards, completing 63.7% of his passes. He stepped into the starting quarterback role midway through the season after initially being sidelined with a calf injury.
Although Wilson is in the latter stages of his NFL career, the pressure on him will be minimal. As a potential future Hall of Famer, he will need to stay ahead of Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, and Tommy DeVito, a challenge that doesn’t seem too daunting for him.
