The Duke Blue Devils are just two victories away from securing their sixth College Basketball National Championship, with No. 1 NBA prospect Cooper Flagg leading the charge. Flagg has been outstanding all season, elevating his game at the most crucial moments. However, his latest performance has sparked some controversy, as Nike took notice of what he was wearing on his feet during Duke’s Sweet Sixteen triumph over No. 4 Arizona.
Cooper Flagg made a major splash in the NIL space by signing one of his first deals with New Balance Basketball. Since then, he has starred in multiple ad campaigns and could even land his own signature shoe by the time he reaches the NBA. For New Balance, securing one of the most highly anticipated prospects in history was a massive win—especially since Flagg grew up in a New Balance household in Newport, Maine.
Fast forward to Duke’s Sweet Sixteen showdown against Arizona, and Flagg put on a show with deep three-pointers, no-look passes, and powerful transition dunks. His highlights quickly took over the internet, but there was one noticeable problem—he was wearing Nike sneakers.
Nike claims the spotlight for Cooper Flagg’s standout performance.
