The Seminoles are aggressively targeting the emerging pass-rusher
Florida State received some discouraging news recently when three-star defensive end Kamron Wilson revealed he was committing to Syracuse. Wilson made his choice after an unofficial visit to explore the Orange program further.
This was a setback for the Seminoles, who had hosted Wilson during Legacy Recruiting Weekend last month, after offering him a scholarship in February. Florida State appeared to be in a strong position with Wilson before his commitment to Syracuse, but it seems the coaching staff isn’t backing off in their recruitment efforts.
On Wednesday, Wilson announced that he still intends to take an official visit to Florida State this summer, from June 20-22. This will be a key date for the Seminoles, as it seems this recruitment is far from finished.
Wilson had an impressive junior season at Miami Southridge High School, recording 118 tackles, 32 tackles for loss, 17 sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. He had five games with 10 or more tackles, including a standout performance on October 5, where he posted 11 tackles, three tackles for loss, and two sacks in a 40-8 win over Edison High School.
The Florida native earned recognition for his performance, being named a first-team All-Dade selection by the Miami Herald and a first-team 6A All-Star by FloridaHSFootball. While he’s still developing physically, his potential is high, and he could emerge as a blue-chip recruit before his senior season concludes.
At 6-foot-5 and 210 pounds, the defensive end is currently ranked as the No. 552 overall prospect, No. 49 EDGE, and No. 82 recruit in Florida for the 2026 class, according to 247Sports.
Florida State has secured eight verbal commitments for its 2026 class, which is ranked No. 14 nationally.
