UNC basketball has seen two players enter this year’s transfer portal: Elliot Cadeau and Jalen Washington. Both players, who spent several years at Chapel Hill, announced their decisions last week and quickly garnered attention from multiple programs.
Cadeau has already committed to Dusty May and Michigan earlier this week, while Washington might be heading to a Big Ten rival.
According to a report from On3’s Mick Walker, Washington recently visited Ohio State. The Buckeyes, who missed out on the NCAA Tournament this past season, struggled with size in the post, a need that Washington, standing 6-foot-10 and weighing 235 pounds, could help address as he seeks a more prominent role.
As a junior for the Tar Heels, Washington averaged 5.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per game, with his playing time varying throughout the season. His role diminished toward the end of the year, partly due to the rise of Ven-Allen Lubin.
On the flip side, UNC basketball has secured its first commitment of the current transfer season with skilled guard Jonathan Powell. The Tar Heels are also being linked to several other players, who could soon make their commitments to head coach Hubert Davis and the team.
