South Carolina CB Emory Floyd Expected to Enter Transfer Portal
After three seasons with South Carolina, cornerback Emory Floyd is reportedly set to explore new opportunities through the NCAA transfer portal.
According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, Floyd intends to enter the portal once the spring transfer window for undergraduates opens on Wednesday. The timing comes just days before the Gamecocks’ spring game, which Floyd had recently promoted on his social media.
Floyd has spent the last three years developing in Columbia and will now look to continue his college football journey elsewhere
Just days after expressing excitement for South Carolina’s Garnet & Black Spring Game, Emory Floyd is reportedly planning to enter the NCAA transfer portal in search of a fresh start.
“Looking forward to seeing Gamecock Country out in full force on Friday night for this year’s Garnet & Black Spring Game!” Floyd wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on April 8.
Floyd, a 6-foot-1, 193-pound cornerback known for his elite speed, has appeared in just seven games over three seasons under head coach Shane Beamer. A standout sprinter as well, Floyd also competed with the Gamecocks’ track team.
After redshirting in 2022 with only two appearances, he saw limited action in 2023, recording two tackles and a pass breakup in three games. His 2024 season was disrupted by a hamstring injury, limiting him to appearances against Akron and Ole Miss, where he did not register any defensive stats.
Floyd was once expected to push for more playing time in a crowded secondary. Now, he’ll look to do so at a new program.
