Jarin Stevenson Bids Farewell to Alabama, Commits to North Carolina

Jarin Stevenson, the 6-foot-11, 215-pound forward, has been a consistent presence for the Alabama Crimson Tide over the past two seasons.

As a freshman, Stevenson played a key role in helping Alabama reach its first-ever Final Four. He followed that up with another strong campaign, contributing to the team’s run to the Elite Eight this past year.

After entering the NCAA transfer portal on April 3, 2025, Stevenson officially announced his decision to return to his roots, committing to the University of North Carolina on April 13.

The Chapel Hill native closed out his Alabama career with a heartfelt tribute, thanking his coaches, teammates, and fans. He shared the message via Instagram story on Friday:

“To all my Alabama teammates, coaches, staff, and fans — it’s been a ride. Thank you for all the love and support.”

Stevenson originally chose Alabama as a highly-touted four-star recruit, ranked No. 11 among power forwards and No. 50 overall in the 247Sports national rankings.

During the 2023-24 season, Stevenson played in all 37 games, starting five of them in SEC play. He averaged 5.3 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.

In his sophomore year, Stevenson saw his role expand, starting 22 of 37 games and improving his averages to 5.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per contest.

One of his standout performances came on March 30, 2025, when he scored a season-high 19 points in Alabama’s Elite Eight victory over Clemson, helping propel the Crimson Tide to their second consecutive Elite Eight appearance.

Before joining Alabama, Stevenson was a standout at Seaforth High School in Pittsboro, North Carolina, where he earned a four-star recruit ranking.

Now, Stevenson is returning to his roots by committing to play for North Carolina, a place where his mother once excelled and where he grew up as a Tar Heels fan.

At UNC, Stevenson will bring his valuable NCAA Tournament experience to the team, continuing a basketball journey that began just a few miles from the Chapel Hill campus.
