Should the Dolphins move on from Ramsey, addressing the cornerback position would become a top priority. Fortunately, they currently hold the No. 13 overall pick, positioning them well to select one of the premier defensive backs in this year’s draft class.
A new projection suggests Miami could trade down just one spot, swapping picks with the Indianapolis Colts to move from No. 13 to No. 14. Following that trade, the Dolphins are expected to target a top-tier cornerback prospect to help fill the potential void left by Ramsey.
Chad Reuter of NFL.com has released a new seven-round mock draft, and it includes a notable move for the Miami Dolphins. In the projection, Miami trades down one spot with the Indianapolis Colts — from No. 13 to No. 14 — and selects standout Texas Longhorns cornerback Jahdae Barron.
“I already had Miami selecting Barron — and then we learned the Dolphins are working with Jalen Ramsey on a trade elsewhere,” Reuter noted. “Barron’s 4.39 speed and competitive nature make him a natural pick here.”
Barron would represent a strong long-term answer at cornerback for the Dolphins. Known for his elite speed and physical play, he’s widely viewed as one of the top coverage prospects in the 2025 class. His upside suggests he could quickly develop into one of the league’s premier shutdown corners.
Over his five-year college career — three of which saw him in a significant role — Barron posted 226 total tackles, two sacks, eight interceptions, a defensive touchdown, a forced fumble, three fumble recoveries, and 24 pass breakups across 57 games.
While Miami may still explore other directions in the draft, Barron looks like a natural fit, especially if Jalen Ramsey is ultimately traded. His blend of experience, instincts, and athleticism would make him a valuable addition to a retooling Dolphins secondary.
