The LSU women’s basketball team is making headlines with a potential blockbuster move in the transfer portal — and the target might surprise you.
Per On3, former South Carolina guard MiLaysia Fulwiley is strongly considering a move to Baton Rouge.
The report, released Wednesday, names LSU as the “strong frontrunner” to land Fulwiley, who is reportedly “leaning heavily” toward joining Kim Mulkey’s squad. If she commits, Fulwiley would team up with standout guards Flau’jae Johnson and Mikaylah Williams, adding even more firepower to an already elite backcourt.
Fulwiley, a rising junior, officially entered the transfer portal on April 14 — just days after South Carolina landed Ta’Niya Latson, the former Florida State star and last season’s national scoring leader.
As a sophomore, MiLaysia Fulwiley put up solid numbers — averaging 11.7 points per game while shooting 43% from the field. With two years of eligibility remaining, she’s one of the most coveted players in the portal, currently ranked No. 5 overall by ESPN for the 2025 transfer cycle.
LSU is also eyeing another top talent: Serah Williams, the No. 8-ranked transfer and former Wisconsin forward. Williams took a visit to Baton Rouge this past Thursday and Friday, signaling LSU’s serious intent to bolster both its backcourt and frontcourt.
So far, LSU has already landed two forwards from the portal — Kate Koval from Notre Dame and Amiya Joyner from East Carolina. These additions aim to help offset the loss of five key frontcourt players: Sa’Myah Smith, Last-Tear Poa, Aalyah Del Rosario, Jersey Wolfenbarger, and Mjracle Sheppard.
In total, eight of the 13 players from last season’s roster are moving on. To reload, LSU has signed four freshmen and two transfers, with five returning players expected to anchor the 2025–26 squad.
Worth noting: Wednesday is the deadline for players to enter the transfer portal. Anyone in the portal by then can sign with a new team at any time — setting the stage for more big moves in the coming days.
