Indiana Shows Interest in USC Transfer Guard Desmond Claude

Indiana has reached out to one of the top available guards in the transfer portal—Desmond Claude, a 6-foot-5 playmaker who recently entered the portal after a season with USC.
According to Dushawn London of 247Sports, IU is among several programs contacting Claude since he made his transfer official on April 22. Other schools showing interest include BYU, Ole Miss, Florida, Virginia, and Gonzaga. Florida, in particular, has reported mutual interest, per Joe Tipton of On3.com.
Claude, a native of New Haven, Connecticut, has one year of eligibility remaining. He began his college career at Xavier, playing two seasons before transferring to USC, where he posted strong numbers last year:

He shot 48.2% from the field, 30.7% from beyond the arc, and 76.4% from the free-throw line. In Big Ten play, Claude ranked second in usage rate (30.6%), ninth in assist rate (26.3%), and ninth in free throw rate (49.5%).
Over 102 career games (67 starts) between Xavier and USC, Claude has averaged 12.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in nearly 29 minutes per game.
With seven transfer commitments already in place, Indiana now has eight scholarship players on its roster for the 2025–26 season.
