Kim Mulkey Sends Strong Message After LSU Lands Star Transfer From South Carolina
Kim Mulkey and the LSU Tigers have solidified themselves as a powerhouse in women’s college basketball, as have Dawn Staley and her South Carolina Gamecocks. While there’s mutual respect between the two programs, their rivalry continues to intensify—especially with LSU’s latest move in the transfer portal.
This offseason, LSU scored a major win by landing MiLaysia Fulwiley, a standout guard from South Carolina. The 5-foot-10 Columbia native played in 39 games during the 2024–25 season, averaging 11.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, while shooting 42.6% from the field.
Though Fulwiley didn’t start any games for the Gamecocks, her talent was undeniable, and she now heads to Baton Rouge looking to elevate the Tigers back to the national title game. LSU wrapped up last season with a 31–6 record and reached the Elite Eight, where they fell to top-seeded UCLA.
After securing Fulwiley, Mulkey had high praise for her new addition:

With Fulwiley now in the fold, all eyes will be on LSU as they aim to reclaim their place at the top of the women’s college basketball world.
