Another Gamecock Gets a Shot at the NFL: Debo Williams Invited to Steelers Rookie Minicamp
Former South Carolina linebacker Debo Williams is getting his NFL opportunity. After going undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft, Williams has received an invitation to attend rookie minicamp with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Williams becomes the third member of head coach Shane Beamer’s inaugural class to earn a chance at the next level. Defensive tackle T.J. Sanders was selected 41st overall by the Buffalo Bills, while cornerback Marcellas Dial landed with the New England Patriots.
Renowned for his leadership, toughness, and elite run-stopping ability, Williams brings high character and physicality to Pittsburgh as he competes for a roster spot.
Williams began his collegiate career at the University of Delaware before transferring to South Carolina following the COVID-impacted 2020 season. He was one of Beamer’s first commitments and quickly became a fan favorite in Columbia. Over four seasons, he appeared in all 51 games of his Gamecock career.
During his time at South Carolina, Williams recorded 225 total tackles, 18 tackles for loss, three sacks, and a forced fumble. A two-time team captain, he enjoyed a breakout season in 2023, finishing with 115 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and three pass breakups. His performance earned him First-Team All-SEC honors and an All-American nod from Phil Steele.
Williams now looks to carry the spirit of “Beamer Ball” to the NFL stage as he begins his next chapter with the Steelers.
