Shane Beamer had a heartwarming surprise for a South Carolina fan celebrating her 100th birthday.
Virginia’s family reached out to the Gamecocks football program, hoping to get a signed ball for her special day. But Beamer went above and beyond. Rather than just sending the ball, the Gamecocks head coach personally drove to Virginia’s house to deliver it in person.
In the video shared by the Gamecocks, Beamer talks about how Virginia helped park cars at Williams-Brice Stadium well into her 90s. “God bless you,” he said with a smile.
Although Virginia can no longer attend South Carolina games due to her age, her passion for the team remains strong.
“How have you stayed so healthy and sharp?” Beamer asked.
“Well, I’ve just lived a good life,” she replied.
Here’s to many more birthdays for Virginia, who will undoubtedly continue cheering for the Gamecocks, especially as they aim for a College Football Playoff berth and a potential national championship.
It was a touching gesture for a dedicated fan who has lived a long, fulfilling life.
